PUB Crawl - April 7, 2025

PUB Crawl Newsletter

Happy Monday, PUB Crawlers—and welcome to Q2!

This quarter is already shaping up to be a busy one (at least for me!). I’m especially excited to head to the Nonprofit Technology Conference later this month and hope to catch up with many of you there. It’s just the start of a season full of conferences and events, and I’ll be bouncing all over the country connecting with folks in the nonprofit tech space.

On that note, I wanted to highlight our upcoming plans for NPSP Days in 2025. First up: Chicago and Seattle (details below)! We’re also planning stops in several more cities throughout the year—including Minneapolis, San Francisco, New York, and Philadelphia. Keep an eye on the NPSP Day website for the full schedule as it rolls out. I’d love to see both new and familiar PUB Crawl faces at these gatherings!

Keep scrolling for the latest and greatest from the Trailblazer community. And have a great week!

Don't forget, you can have the goodness of the PUB Crawl delivered into your inbox each Monday morning by subscribing today!

Kim White-Sawczynec (The Greater Boston Food Bank)

This Trailblazer is looking for a way to track goals related to Activities for donors. Their org needs to track visits, phone calls, solicitations, and other metrics. The goals will differ from user to user, so they're looking for flexibility with assigning targets. If you have accomplished something similar or have an idea of how this could work, add your thoughts to this post!

  3. Complete the 2025 State of Salesforce Development Survey!
    Kaitlin Benz (Salesforce)

This 30-question State of Salesforce Development survey is a unique chance to directly influence how Salesforce prioritizes developer tools and resources in their product roadmaps. It takes roughly 15 minutes to complete and if jump on the opportunity, you might even get a gift card out of it!

  4. The Value of Salesforce Implementation Partners

If you're thinking of purchasing or implementing Salesforce, it might be wise to first seek a Salesforce implementation partner. They can help you determine the features and tools you need, give un-biased advice, and ultimately save you money. This blog post from Michael Kolodner explains the importance of finding an implementation partner that you can trust.

Great Ideas for Nonprofits Using Salesforce

  1. NPC: Allow Field Adding to the New Benefit Schedule Component
    Janina Capacillo (Harmony Project)

Currently, the New Benefit Schedule component in NPC can’t be customized, which prevents key fields from being populated during creation. Using the list view’s New button includes these fields but misses critical automation, forcing manual updates that cause data gaps and extra support tickets. Customization would streamline workflows and reduce administrative burden— vote if you agree!
